We applied for Turbiini pre-startup program because we wanted to learn more about startup scene in Finland as our whole team is from abroad. January 30 was the kick-off event of Turbiini pre-startup program and and the Grand Finale took place on April 7.

We started with pitching our ideas and ended up developing them further. While formulating our ideas, we had hands-on experiences on business development, marketing and so on. Updating our Lean canvas on weekly basis kept us from forgetting that business part of the startup is as important as creating the product.

During the process we learned how to use startup lingua and it gave us structural thinking skills on how to succeed in startup scene where more than 90% of startups fail.

One of the things we enjoyed a lot was paper prototyping and creating a prototype in InVision. We got a lot of feedback and we were able to constantly improve the prototype.

This program gave us a comprehensive overview of startup ecosystem in Helsinki area. And we were able to see and learn that most startups are going through the same challenges and it is good to learn from others.

Consultation meetings every Friday helped us to keep track and we got valuable feedback on what we should concentrate on. We are very grateful to our advisors Tiina, Hannes and Misa who gave us external support and gave support on how to handle difficult co-founder conflict.

We are very grateful for the opportunity to participate, it helped us to grow as a team. We’ll continue being part of Turbiini accelerator and are happy to have successfully graduated from the pre-startup program.

We had to read several books during the process and organized a book club to discuss what we learned. Here’s a list of some books we liked: Lean Startup Zero to One Growth Hacker Marketing
