Why does children’s mental health matter?

Breakfast with the President

This morning, the President of Estonia Alar Karis met with the top six young entrepreneurs in Estonia, as chosen by Eesti Kaubandus- ja Tööstuskoda and LHV, for breakfast and discussion. Our CEO Dr. Kadri Haljas was one of the President’s six guests and the only woman; Estonia may be a small country, but having breakfast with the president is nonetheless a big deal!

An even bigger deal is that during the presidential breakfast the discussion revolved around the importance of mental health! Dr. Kadri Haljas had the opportunity to tell the President about what we are doing at Triumf Health and as it turns out, he shares our mission and vision.

Students, inclusivity, and mental health

For years we at Triumf Health have advocated for children’s mental health and wellbeing by attending different events to support other organizations, going to schools to talk to students about mental health, and promoting general advocacy and awareness wherever we can. Last week our Chief Impact Officer Liina Melanie Sarapik participated in a webinar hosted by the Estonian LGBT Association on the newspaper Postimees’s Education Portal. The theme of the panel discussion was “Who is afraid of LGBT+ students?” and discussion revolved around the results of the research, workshops and campaigning that had been done in the past year.

As a part of the research team CHAP at Uppsala University I am currently working close together with the Triumf Health-team, as we are in preparations of pilot testing Triumfland Saga in Sweden. This collaboration both allows for, and encourages, an active involvement of children and youth in the process towards implementing the app.
